Truwell Group Pty Ltd (Truwell) is an early stage Edtech company that offers unique, best-of-breed wellbeing programs for students, teachers, support staff and parents via a low cost SaaS platform. Truwell’s comprehensive suite of products includes over 65 digital interactive wellbeing courses and has been rolled out to over 30 schools with a further 200 schools from around the world in the pipeline.   The redemptive element of Truwell sets it apart from competitors, as does the interactivity and capacity to customise the student wellbeing courses on offer.

Even before the impact of COVID-19, there has been a significant surge in demand for wellbeing products for students and teaches. Over 60% of teachers are registering unacceptable levels of stress, and mental health problems are afflicting more than 25% of secondary students.  The financial cost to the nation of mental health problems is significant, however, most wellbeing strategies for schools are inadequate in their reach and in their capacity.

Truwell is led by leading educators, Dr Tim Hawkes OAM (former Headmaster of The King’s School, Sydney and renowned education thought leader) and Adam Weber (educator and tech entrepreneur).  With a $10 billion market opportunity across Australia, US and UK, Truwell is well positioned to be a leader targeting an unmet and rapidly growing need in student and teacher mental health.

The Company is seeking to raise up to $1 million at a pre-money equity valuation of $7.5 million.  Funds will be used to build out the Truwell team and product offering to accelerate growth of the business.

The Platform

Truwell’s core aim is to build a protective fence at the top of the wellbeing cliff for students and teachers, rather than just monitor the rate of fall by those tumbling down the cliff.  To achieve this, Truwell has developed a ‘one-stop-shop’ for schools in the area of wellbeing that is easy for schools to deliver, is engaging and interactive, has expert input and content integrity, and importantly represents a more affordable option that any other program in the market.

Truwell’s school subscription service offering:

  • Complimentary wellbeing monitoring services for teachers and students
  • School, teacher and student wellbeing trend tracking
  • A vehicle for schools to capture de-identified teacher and identified student ‘voices’ to assist school leadership identify ways wellbeing in the school might be improved.
  • Access to over 65 interactive, digital courses designed to be pro-active in promoting wellbeing in students, teachers (and support staff).
  • Ability for schools to customise and brand the student wellbeing exercises to make them uniquely relevant.

Truwell’s parent subscription service offering (in development):

  • Access to over 65 interactive, digital courses for the family to be pro-active in promoting the wellbeing of their children.

Truwell’s Teacher Training program in Student Mental Health offering:

  • A comprehensive online ‘Teacher Training program in Student Mental Health’ that is affordable and accessible, as well as supports the effectiveness of the school subscription service.

Although there are competing products and businesses in the student and teacher wellbeing market, none offer the full suite of solutions that Truwell provides and at a cost that is accessible for all schools. 

A “one-stop-shop” for student and teacher wellbeing

Significant Market Opportunity

The school wellness market across Australia, US and UK, is estimated by Truwell to be worth more than $10 billion in 2021. This includes school and parental spend on wellness. 

Wellbeing in the education sector has reached a near-crisis point:

  • A third of teachers leave their profession within five years.  
  • Teachers are making more WorkCover claims than any other profession. Many of these claims are stress related.
  • Teacher surveys indicate unacceptable levels of stress in over 60% of teachers.
  • Before the COVID-19 pandemic, the number of children suffering poor mental health was growing. However, since the pandemic, mental health problems in students have increased
    dramatically, and is likely to stay high.
  • One student in four at secondary level is experiencing poor mental health.
  • One student in seven at primary level is suffering poor mental health.
  • On average, parents spend $200 p.a. on preventative wellbeing for their children.

Truwell Traction and Roadmap

Truwell’s low-cost, SaaS platform delivering leading edge wellness programs is uniquely placed in a market looking for accessible, effective and holistic wellness programs, as opposed to just monitoring surveys or high-cost in-person training.  Already deployed in 30 Australian schools, with another 200 in the pipeline from around the world, Truwell is well positioned to exploit the Australian market opportunity, ahead of expansion into the US and UK markets.

In order to gain traction in schools Truwell has developed a number of “must have” course on relevant and current topics such as “sexual consent” and “vaping”. These programs have been offered to schools free of charge to facilitate initial engagement with the platform and the broader product offering.

Key development plans over the next 12-24 months include:

  • Launch Teacher Training in Student Mental Health course
  • Partner with ACU to build a research community around the implementation of best practices in schoolwide wellbeing
  • Launch the parent education offering
  • Make the Teacher Wellbeing Survey free for all schools – the first free staff monitoring tool in Australia
  • Relaunch hyper-personalisation engine for staff, students and parents
  • Launch the Truwell program into US and UK markets
  • Launch a wellbeing program for School Leaders

 

The Truwell roadmap

The Offer

Truwell is raising up to $1,000,000 under the offer at a price of $0.75 per share. There are currently 10,000,000 shares on issue, providing a pre-money equity valuation of $7.5 million.

The funds raised under the offer will be applied to accelerating growth via Sales & Marketing, ongoing Content and Software Development and Working Capital.
